SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Nat P. Ozmon, who passed away on
4September 14, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon was born on March 4, 1925, in Davenport,
6Iowa; he attended college at New York University and received
7his law degree from Northwestern University, where he ranked
8first in his class; he was also elected to the Board of Law
9Review Editors and was installed in the Order of the Coif, a
10legal scholastic honor society; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon was the senior member and founder of
12Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak, & Kohen, Ltd.; during his 40-year
13career as a trial and appellate lawyer, he was dedicated to
14preserving and enhancing the rights of injured victims; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon served as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola
16University School of Law, where he taught Trial Advocacy senior
17law students for 10 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon was certified by the American Board of
19Trial Advocates; he was a diplomat of the American Board of
20Professional Liability Attorneys and a fellow and a founder of
21the Roscoe Pound Foundation, the Trial Lawyers for Public

1Justice, and the Institute for Injury Reduction; he was a
2recognized leader of the bar and served on the managing boards
3of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Chicago Bar
4Association, and the Society of Trial Lawyers; he was also a
5past president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon was listed as one of "The Best Lawyers
7in America" by the Harvard Law School Study; he was also the
8recipient of the Leonard Ring Lifetime Achievement Award for
9his commitment to victims rights and trial by jury; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Nat Ozmon is survived by his wife, June Maguire
11Ozmon; his children, Nat P. Ozmon, Jr., Laird Ozmon, Lorna
12Ozmon, Kelle Ozmon, and Rachel Maguire; and his six
13grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16his family and friends, the passing of Nat P. Ozmon; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Nat Ozmon as an expression of our
20sympathy.
