SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald F. Hill of Bloomington, who passed away on September 3, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hill was born on December 30, 1925, in Greenup; he was the son of Bethel and Sattie Freeman Hill; he married Shirley M. Middlesworth on June 30, 1951, at the Methodist Church in Charleston; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hill was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University High School, Eastern Illinois University, and the Illinois College of Law in Springfield; he served in the United States Navy during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hill joined the State Farm Mutual Auto Insurance Company as a field claim representative in 1951; he retired from State Farm in 1990 after 38 years of service; during his career, he held a number of positions in the claims operation of State Farm's Illinois regional operation and worked as a legislative liaison with the Illinois legislature; and

WHEREAS, After retiring from State Farm, Donald Hill became active in Faith in Action and the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program as a mediator; he was also a member of the Illinois Bar Association, Wesley United Methodist Church of Bloomington, and the Bloomington Exchange Club; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hill enjoyed golf, fishing, card games of all types, traveling with his family, and attending and watching a wide variety of sporting events, particularly when his children or grandchildren were involved; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hill was preceded in death by a brother, William Hill, and a daughter-in-law, Sally Hill; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hill is survived by his wife, Shirley; his sons, David Hill and Brian "Buzz" (Barbie) Hill; his daughter, Susan (Kelly) Davidson; his grandchildren, Katherine Jean (Dalan) Thornton, Brian William Hill, Kylie Ellen (Brad) McKlveen, Peter Freeman Hill, Allison Cates Davidson, and Sara Beth Davidson; his two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Kathryn Luedke and Caroline (Phil) Hadley; and his brother, LaVerle Hill; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Donald F. Hill; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald F. Hill as an expression of our sympathy.
