SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William "Bill" Jereb of Grayslake, who
4passed away on December 18, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born April 15, 1925 in North Chicago to
6Mary and John Jereb; and
 
7    WHEREAS, He was a World War II veteran, serving with the
8Fourth Infantry Division Company C 8th Regiment in Europe; his
9company was part of the D-Day invasion, landing in Normandy on
10Utah Beach with the first wave; he was awarded the Combat
11Infantry Badge, 2 Bronze Stars, 3 Purple Hearts, the Bronze
12Arrowhead, 3 Campaign Stars, the Presidential Unit Citation,
13the Belgium Forragiere, and the French Medallion with
14citations, plus others; and
 
15    WHEREAS, He retired from US Steel after 33 years of
16service; he was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation
17Catholic Church, St. Joseph's KSKJ #53, Knights of Columbus
18#731, Sharvin Post American Legion, the Disabled American
19Veterans, and the 4th Infantry Division Association; he was a
20former member of Queen of Peace Church and Mother of God
21Church; and

1    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife,
2Mary Ann; his brothers, Richard, Gene, Herman, and George; and
3his granddaughter, Jennifer Parks; and
 
4    WHEREAS, William Jereb is survived by his daughters,
5Jeannie (Mark) Parks, Julie (Richard) Romano, and Jeri (Jim)
6Foster; his grandchildren, Jori and Jamie Parks, Ricky and
7Jackie Romano, and Seth, Morgan, and Dylan Foster; and his
8sisters, Phyllis Portis and Terri Trojan; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11his family and friends, the passing of William Jereb; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of William Jereb as a symbol of our
15sincere sympathy.
