SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carl Fredrick Helfers of Pekin, who passed away on April 11, 2012; and

WHEREAS, He was born March 18, 1933 in Panama to Andrew Jackson and Bessie (Cress) Helfers; he married Glenda Rose Throgmartin on December 1, 1951 in Hillsboro; and

WHEREAS, He was a strong union man and was a 38-year member of Steamfitters Local 353 in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, He enjoyed camping and going to the auction; when he was younger, he ran stock cars with his brother; he was a member of Rutland Christian Church; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and 5 brothers; and

WHEREAS, Carl Fredrick Helfers is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Tom) Hall; his sons, Jim (Kim Hammond) Helfers, Marty (Teresa) Helfers, Michael E. (Karen) Helfers, Charles Helfers, and Danny (Cherity) Helfers; his 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; he also leaves several half-sisters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Carl Helfers; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carl Helfers as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
