SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marian Allene Goza, who passed away on
4May 4, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marian Goza was born on December 25, 1930, in
6Springfield; her parents were John B. and Clara (Rodgers)
7Ritchie; she married Robert W. Goza in 1952; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marian Goza attended Enos Elementary School and
9graduated from Springfield High School and Springfield College
10in Illinois; she then attended Lincoln University in Jefferson
11City, Missouri, where she met her future husband; she later
12earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Sangamon State
13University; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Marian Goza was employed as a registered medical
15technologist at Memorial Medical Center for 39 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marian Goza was a member of St. Paul AME Church,
17where she served on the Trustee Board and the Estella Thompson
18Missionary Society, and sang as a choir helper; she was active
19in the Land of Lincoln Girl Scout Council for many years and
20served as a Girl Scout leader and cookie chairman; she
21participated in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at both

1the local and State levels; as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha
2Sorority, Inc., she worked on various committees and served as
3President of the local chapter and held a regional office; she
4was a member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority and the Springfield
5Branch NAACP and served as Secretary for the Kenneth E. Barton,
6Sr. Scholarship Fund; she also served as Vice-President,
7Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and Secretary as well as the
81st Illinois Connections Coordinator on the regional level for
9several years and took a special interest in her neighborhood
10association; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marian Goza was an accomplished seamstress who
12made many wedding gowns and debutante dresses; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marian Goza was preceded in death by her husband
14of over 59 years, Robert; her parents; and her brother, John R.
15Ritchie; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marian Goza is survived by her children, Cheryl
17Goza Smith, Michael (Cindi), Roger (Linda), and Jeanette H.
18Goza; her grandchildren, Alexander C. Goza, Marian T. Smith,
19and William A. Ferguson; her step-granddaughter, Heather
20Navarro; her great-grandsons, Jeremiah and Jaden Ferguson; her
21step-grandchildren, Skie, Rainne, and Croix; her
22brother-in-law; her 3 sisters-in-law; and her many cousins and
23friends; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
3her family and friends, the passing of Marian Allene Goza; and
4be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Marian Goza as an expression of our
7sympathy.
