SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph J. Berardi of Canton, who passed away on June 21, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Berardi was born on February 14, 1938, in Pekin; his parents were Joseph and Emogene (Monroe) Berardi; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Berardi graduated from Pekin High School in 1956, where he played many sports; he subsequently attended Spoon River College, Sangamon State University, and Western Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Berardi served with pride and distinction in the United States Air Force for 4 years; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Berardi was employed as a home builder with his father's construction company for many years; he later worked as an entrepreneur and a sales consultant in the recycling industry for small businesses and Fortune 500 companies; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Berardi served on the Fulton County Board for 4 years and the Canton City Council for 4 years; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Berardi enjoyed slow pitch softball, golf, boat racing, flying his plane, woodworking, landscaping, designing creations from brick and stone, politics, traveling, and cooking for and entertaining his friends and family; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Berardi was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Lou Petri; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Berardi is survived by his wife, Deborah (Mayhew) Berardi; his daughters, Lane (Kevin) Hampton and Lana Berardi; his grandchildren, L, K, J, and M Hampton; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Joseph J. Berardi; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph Berardi as an expression of our sympathy.
