SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Matthew "Steve" Mezger of North Chicago, who passed away on July 10, 2012; and

WHEREAS, He was born on April 3, 1954, in Corona, California; he married Josephine Bena on January 7, 1978, at Holy Rosary Church in North Chicago; and

WHEREAS, He retired from Civil Service at Great Lakes in 2001 after 15 years of employment; he was a member of Queen of Peace Church in North Chicago; he enjoyed music, playing the piano and the guitar, spending time with his grandchildren, watching sports, swimming, roller skating, watching old movies, a good political debate, and going to the beach with his children; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Matthew "Steve" Mezger has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Josephine; his children, Jennifer (John) Price, Jackie (Brad) Moon, Julia (Josiah) Jones Jr., Jamie (Ben) Donovan, Judy Mezger and Matthew Mezger Jr.; his grandchildren, Hailey, Abby, Evan, Emily, Josiah III, Joey, Julian, and Matthew III; his brother, William (Sandra) Mezger; his sisters, Lillian and Cecilia Mezger; and his nephew, Steve Mezger; he was preceded in death by his parents; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Matthew "Steve" Mezger and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
