SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald L. Sumners of Wadsworth, who passed away on September 8, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Sumners served his country with pride as a nuclear submariner with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Navy, Ronald Sumners worked at the Zion Nuclear Power Station until the plant's closure in 1998; he subsequently combined his love of travel with his computer skills and worked as a computer software trainer until his retirement in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Sumners was preceded in death by his son, Philip, and his parents, Norwood and Mary Sumners; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Sumners is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy; his children, Andrew, Nathaniel, and Gillian (Peter) Byron; his grandchildren, Jason Boncodin and Joy Sumners; his brother, John; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Ronald L. Sumners; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ronald Sumners as an expression of our sympathy.
