SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Marc Victor Burnett of Peoria, who passed away on September 20, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Marc Burnett was born on February 3, 1953, in Belleville at Scott Air Force Base, to Victor and Patricia (Vannice) Burnett; he married Ann Powers on February 25, 1984; and

WHEREAS, Marc Burnett was the director of marketing for the Peoria Civic Center (PCC) since 2000; he was "the face" of the PCC and was an integral part of bringing to life the Broadway Theatre Series, WorldFest, and many community organizations, including the W.D. Boyce Council of Boy Scouts of America, the WCBU Associate Board of Directors, the WTVP, the ICC, the Peoria Players, and the Corn Stock theatres; and

WHEREAS, Marc Burnett was a Eucharistic minister and lector at Holy Family Church and active in Cursillo and TEC; he founded the Peoria Civic Center Student Advisory Program; he touched countless lives with his musical talent and performances, ranging from basement jams and recordings to original music scores for family weddings and festival performances as the Burnett Family Singers; and

WHEREAS, Marc Burnett was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast; he was fond of Long's Peak and the St. Louis Cardinals; he coached several youth sports teams for nearly a decade; and

WHEREAS, Marc Burnett's sense of humor and exuberance endeared him to friends around the world; he will be remembered for his one-word outlook on life: "Bueno!"; and

WHEREAS, Marc Burnett was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick; and

WHEREAS, Marc Burnett is survived by his wife, Ann; his sons, Ty Michael and Van Powers Burnett; his brothers, Rick, Terry, Kelly (Anita), Chris (Connie), and Johnny (Susan); his sisters, Viki, Lisa, Val (Dave Berry), and Jenny (Bob Parkhurst); and his numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marc Burnett, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marc Burnett as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
