SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dale L. Baraks of Coal Valley, who passed
4away on April 22, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dale Baraks was born in Coal Valley to Lester and
6Grace (Harsha) Baraks on May 4, 1931; he attended Augustana
7College, where he played baseball as a shortstop and second
8baseman; he was scouted for the Chicago Cubs but was drafted
9while waiting for tryouts; he served in the U.S. Army as part
10of the finance department during the Korean War; he married
11Joyce A. Nash at Coal Valley Presbyterian Church on January 20,
121957; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dale Baraks was hired by the McLaughlin Body
14Company in 1962, and he eventually became the vice president of
15finance; in 2000, he ended his full-time career as senior vice
16president of the Southeast National Bank, which is owned by the
17McLaughlins; due to his loyalty and work ethic, he was invited
18back to the company by Ray McLaughlin to work as his personal
19assistant; he retired in 2015 at the age of 84; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dale Baraks was deeply committed to his faith; he
21volunteered and served at First Presbyterian Church, Coal
22Valley, and with various ministries; he held the "Cafe on Vine"

1ministry, which served the homeless, especially near to his
2heart; he was instrumental in the development of the Riverbend
3Foodbank, where he served as director for 30 years; he enjoyed
4golfing, playing cards, and losing games of Yahtzee to his
5wife; he loved reading and watching sports, especially the
6Cubs; his greatest joy was spending time with his family; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dale Baraks was preceded in death by his wife,
8Joyce; his parents, Lester and Grace; and his two sisters,
9Frances (Charles) Olson and Marge (Howard) Mundt; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dale Baraks is survived by his daughters, Lisa
11(Randy) Christensen and Sheri (Brian) Peed Fay; his son, Dale
12(Nicole) Baraks; his adopted daughter, Connie (Kelly) Cooper;
13his nine grandchildren; his 18 great-grandchildren; and his
14eight great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Dale L. Baraks and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Dale Baraks as an expression of our
22deepest sympathy.
