SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Opal Lee (Grubbs) Werenski, who passed
4away on June 10, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Opal Werenski was born in Kentucky in 1945 to
6Wilma and Arnold Grubbs; her family moved to Illinois when she
7was a child, and Waukegan became her home for the next 45
8years; she married Steve Werenski in 1964, and as a young
9married couple, they spent time living in Europe when Steve was
10in the U.S. Army; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Opal Werenski was a cosmetologist and owned her
12own business, Opal's Hair Design, for 20 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Opal Werenski was an avid golfer and loved her
14weekends spent at Bonnie Brook with dear friends; she enjoyed
15being surrounded by friends and family, celebrating life's
16milestones, often in her own home which became a second home to
17so many; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Opal Werenski was preceded in death by her
19husband, Steve; her siblings, Roscoe, Louise, Jerry, Larry, and
20David; and her parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Opal Werenski is survived by her children, Heather
2(Tom) Sternberg and Kristina (Eric) Lyons; her grandchildren,
3Athena, Tommy, and Lucas; her siblings, Eunice Schlegel and Ron
4Grubbs; and numerous other family members and friends;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Opal Lee (Grubbs) Werenski and extend our sincere condolences
9to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Opal Werenski as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
