SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edmund J. Gronkiewicz of Chicago and
4Berwyn, who passed away on September 2, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edmund Gronkiewicz was born in Chicago to Edmund
6Gronkiewicz and Mary Balonek Gronkiewicz on February 4, 1939;
7he was raised on the Southwest Side of Chicago; he attended St.
8Casimir Grammar School and Quigley Seminary; he earned his
9bachelor's, master's, and juris doctor degrees from Loyola
10University Chicago; he was a polyglot and was fluent in Latin,
11Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, French, Russian, and Polish; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Edmund Gronkiewicz was a probate and estate
13planning lawyer for 55 years; he was a former partner at the
14law firms Hinshaw and Culbertson LLP and Reda, Ciprian,
15Magnone, LLC; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Edmund Gronkiewicz served as a deacon at Our Lady
17of Mount Carmel Church located in the East Lakeview area of
18Chicago for 20 years; he was in a number of religious
19organizations, including the Sovereign Military Order of Malta
20Federal Association, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher
21of Jerusalem, the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, and the
22Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George; he was a

1life member of The Polish Museum of America (PMA), where he
2served as past legal counsel; he was a 49-year member of the
3Chicago Society of the Polish National Alliance; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Edmund Gronkiewicz was preceded in death by his
5parents; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Edmund Gronkiewicz was the dear friend of Joan
7Trandel; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Edmund J. Gronkiewicz and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Edmund Gronkiewicz as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
