SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Louis "Lou" Vargas of Crest Hill, who
4passed away on October 15, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lou Vargas was born to Josephine (Carillo) and
6Richard J. Vargas on December 11, 1946; he served in the U.S.
7Army during the Vietnam War; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Lou Vargas retired from Commonwealth Edison after
9more than 19 years of service; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lou Vargas served as the past commander of the New
11Lenox VFW and VFW Stone City Post #2199; his favorite hobby was
12working on and restoring older cars; he also worked on many
13race cars and teams at the Grundy County Speedway; he enjoyed
14watching college football and the Chicago Bears; he will be
15remembered for being a proud and patriotic man; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lou Vargas was preceded in death by his parents;
17his brothers, Richard "Ric" Vargas and Anthony Vargas; and his
18sister, Cecilia (late Frank) Brulc; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Lou Vargas is survived by his wife of 45 years,
20Minnie "Bernice" (Flatt) Vargas; his children, Billie (David)

1Love and Richard "Rick" (Nicole) Vargas; his grandchildren,
2Dylan Vargas, Derrick Vargas, and Taylor Vargas; his siblings,
3Maria Louisa (late Glen) McPhail and Andrew (Trena) Vargas; his
4uncle and godfather, Joseph Belman; his several nieces and
5nephews; and a multitude of cousins; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Louis "Lou" Vargas and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Lou Vargas as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
