SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James F. "Jim" Caldbeck of River
4Forest, who passed away on October 17, 2022 at the age of 94;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck was born to Cornelius and Elizabeth
7Caldbeck in Chicago on September 14, 1928; he grew up as the
8sixth of seven children in a lively Irish family; as a child,
9he developed and maintained a strong sense of humor; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck performed with the Holy Name
11Cathedral Choristers in his early days, and a photo of a choir
12performance once landed him on the cover of Catholic Women's
13Magazine; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck joined the U.S. Marine Corps after
15graduating from De LaSalle High School; he trained at Parris
16Island and was stationed at Camp Lejeune before boarding a
17ship to serve on the Mediterranean Sea; upon returning home
18from the Marines, he studied business at Loyola University;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck married Michele "Micki" in 1967, and
21they later welcomed three daughters while living in River

1Forest; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck was an avid sports fan and enjoyed
3high school, college, and professional games; his favorite
4teams included the Chicago Bears, the Notre Dame Fighting
5Irish, and the Chicago White Sox; his favorite pastime was
6playing tennis; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck was comfortable with performing
8domestic duties; he sang You Are My Sunshine to his daughters
9and drove them to school every day; in the kitchen, his
10specialties included brownies, which were sought after by
11family members and friends, and his mashed potato soup; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck was known for being a snappy dresser
13due to his mixing and matching of plaid, stripes, and paisley
14in single outfits; he will be remembered for his dad jokes and
15his willingness to offer a compliment or a helping hand; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck was preceded in death by his parents
17and his siblings, Dorothy, Jack, Sunny, Alice, Ray, and Mary;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck is survived by his wife of 55 years,
20Michele; his daughters, Elizabeth (Craig), Maureen (Adam), and
21Cara (Elliot); and his granddaughter, Madeline; therefore, be

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4James F. "Jim" Caldbeck and extend our sincere condolences to
5his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Jim Caldbeck as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
