SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald E. Hargrave of Coyne Center, who passed away on January 31, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hargrave was born in Flora to Clarence and Eva (Lewis) Hargrave on January 8, 1928; he married Marilyn P. "Lynn" Boyd in Rock Island on February 4, 1951, and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2017; he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hargrave was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 39 years, and he retired as the division chief of transportation; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hargrave was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Moline and the Milan American Legion Post 569; he was a charter member and past chief of the Coyne Center Fire Department; he enjoyed golfing in his earlier years, flying radio controlled airplanes, and recording videos of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; his favorite moments were those spent with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hargrave was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Deborah Lynn Hargrave; his brother, Robert Hargrave; and his sisters, Betty Lou Jackson and Harriet Bealer; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hargrave is survived by his children, Thomas E. Hargrave, Roger E. (Dea) Hargrave, and T.J. Hargrave; his grandchildren, Tina Wallace, Jessica Hart, Erin (Brad) Bannerman, Heather (John) Doerr, Chad Hargrave, and Maggie (Richard) Olsen; his 14 great-grandchildren; and his many nieces, nephews, and their families; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald E. Hargrave and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Hargrave as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
