SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronnie Joe Reiher of Carlinville, who passed away on March 24, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie Reiher was born to Harold and Wanda Caudle Reiher in Litchfield on January 8, 1951; he graduated from Carlinville High School in 1969 and served in the Army National Guard in Springfield from 1969 to 1977; he married Cindy Vance on November 11, 1977, and they later divorced; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie Reiher began his career in law enforcement as a part-time police officer at the Carlinville Police Department in March 1975, moving to a full time position in December 1977; he served as police chief from September 1988 to May 1997; he continued to serve on the Carlinville Police Department until his retirement on May 3, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his adult life, Ronnie Reiher always looked forward to the spring and harvest seasons when he spent quality time with his best friend, Denny Joe Bouillon, while farming; in the summers, he loved cooking his famous fish sandwiches at the county fair alongside his son; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie Reiher was preceded in death by his father, Harold Reiher; his mother, Wanda Reiher Stevens; his sister, Vicki Foiles; his brother-in-law, Tom Rosenthal; and his nephew, Jared Wofford; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie Reiher is survived by his son, Quinn (Bobbie Ann) Reiher; his daughters, Danley Reiher and Carmen (Aaron) Coe; his grandchildren, Bryson and Mila Coe; his sister, Jana Wofford; his brother-in-law, Nathan Foiles; his lifelong friend, Denny Joe (Patty) Bouillon; and his several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronnie Joe Reiher and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ronnie Reiher as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
