SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Lee Beck of Rock Island, who passed away on May 4, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Robert Beck, the son of John and Dovie Beck, was born in Mounds on October 8, 1943; he graduated from Cairo High School, where he excelled at several sports; he later earned an associate's degree before serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, Robert Beck worked as a quality control coordinator at Caterpillar until retirement; he then worked for Rock Island High School and also managed the Rock Island Elks Club; and

WHEREAS, Robert Beck enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends; he was passionate about fishing, golfing, and his bowling leagues; and

WHEREAS, Robert Beck was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Velma Lewis; and

WHEREAS, Robert Beck is survived by his children, Lisa Beck and Maurice Beck, and his grandchildren, Evelyn McCain and Maurlyse Shropshire; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert Lee Beck and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Beck as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
