AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 34-18.48 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/34-18.48 new)

Sec. 34-18.48. School nurse pilot program. The board shall establish a school nurse pilot program. Under the program, the board shall require the top 20% of the lowest performing schools in the district, as determined by the board, to employ a school nurse in conformance with Section 10-22.23 of this Code. The board shall implement this program beginning with the 2013-2014 school year.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
