SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act

    Creates the Village of Bloomingdale School District Boundary Adjustment Act. Provides that those portions of the Vittoria Brooke Estates and Chateaus of Medinah subdivisions consisting of approximately 35 single family home sites in the Village of Bloomingdale (as defined in certain Bloomingdale ordinances of annexation) shall be included within the boundaries of Bloomingdale School District 13 and Lake Park Community High School District 108 and shall cease to be within the boundaries of Marquardt School District 15 and Glenbard Township High School District 87. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5Village of Bloomingdale School District Boundary Adjustment
6Act.
 
7    Section 5. Definitions. In this Act:
8    "Bloomingdale" means the Village of Bloomingdale, in
9DuPage County, Illinois.
10    "Districts 15 and 87" means Marquardt School District 15
11and Glenbard Township High School District 87, both in DuPage
12County, Illinois.
13    "Districts 13 and 108" mean Bloomingdale School District 13
14and Lake Park Community High School District 108, both in
15DuPage County, Illinois.
16    "Petitioning Territory" means those portions of the
17Vittoria Brooke Estates and Chateaus of Medinah subdivisions
18consisting of approximately 35 single family home sites, all
19located in the Village of Bloomingdale, DuPage County,
20Illinois, as defined in Bloomingdale Ordinances of Annexation
212000-23, dated July 10, 2000, and 2001-30, dated October 8,
222001. The Petitioning Territory is currently divided, as of
23July 16, 2012, with a portion of the Petitioning Territory in

1the school district boundaries of Districts 15 and 87 and a
2portion in the school district boundaries of Districts 13 and
3108.
 
4    Section 10. Purpose. The purpose of this Act is to make
5existing school district boundaries in Bloomingdale more
6compact and contiguous, to more efficiently utilize property
7tax revenues by eliminating duplicative and unnecessary
8expenditures for transportation and public services, and to
9promote the general public welfare and the safety of children.
 
10    Section 15. Authority of the legislature to act. The
11General Assembly has the authority to abolish, dissolve, and
12change boundaries of school districts in the State of Illinois.
 
13    Section 20. Boundary changes. The Petitioning Territory
14shall, in its entirety, be included within the boundaries of
15Bloomingdale School District 13 and Lake Park Community High
16School District 108 and shall cease to be within the boundaries
17of Marquardt School District 15 and Glenbard Township High
18School District 87 for the purpose of public education, in
19accordance with the best interests of the public, and to
20promote the general public welfare and the safety of children
21in the Petitioning Territory.
 
22    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
23becoming law.
