SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 1707/52 new
70 ILCS 3615/5.06 new

    Amends the Regional Planning Act. Provides that the Board may by majority vote pass a resolution to consolidate its mass-transit planning activities with the Regional Transportation Authority and any of its Service Boards into a single department within the Regional Transportation Authority. Prohibits the resolution from taking effect until 90 days after the Regional Transportation Authority Board has adopted a similar resolution or ordinance. Makes similar changes in the Regional Transportation Authority Act.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Regional Planning Act is amended by adding
5Section 52 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 1707/52 new)
7    Sec. 52. Consolidation of mass-transit planning.
8Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Board may by a
9majority vote pass a resolution to consolidate its mass-transit
10planning activities with the Regional Transportation Authority
11and any of its Service Boards into a single mass-transit
12planning department within the Regional Transportation
13Authority. The resolution shall not take effect until 90 days
14after the Regional Transportation Authority Board has adopted a
15similar ordinance or resolution under Section 5.06 of the
16Regional Transportation Authority Act.
 
17    Section 10. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is
18amended by adding Section 5.06 as follows:

3Metropolitan Agency for Planning into a single mass-transit
4planning department within the Regional Transportation
5Authority. The ordinance or resolution shall not take effect
6until 90 days after the Board of the Chicago Metropolitan
7Agency for Planning has adopted a similar resolution under
8Section 52 of the Regional Planning Act.
