SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

70 ILCS 3615/5.06 new

Amends the Regional Planning Act. Provides that the Board may by majority vote pass a resolution to consolidate its mass-transit planning activities with the Regional Transportation Authority and any of its Service Boards into a single department within the Regional Transportation Authority. Prohibits the resolution from taking effect until 90 days after the Regional Transportation Authority Board has adopted a similar resolution or ordinance. Makes similar changes in the Regional Transportation Authority Act.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Regional Planning Act is amended by adding Section 52 as follows:

(70 ILCS 1707/52 new)

Sec. 52. Consolidation of mass-transit planning. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Board may by a majority vote pass a resolution to consolidate its mass-transit planning activities with the Regional Transportation Authority and any of its Service Boards into a single mass-transit planning department within the Regional Transportation Authority. The resolution shall not take effect until 90 days after the Regional Transportation Authority Board has adopted a similar ordinance or resolution under Section 5.06 of the Regional Transportation Authority Act.

Section 10. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is amended by adding Section 5.06 as follows:

Sec. 5.06. Consolidation of mass-transit planning. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Board may by majority vote pass an ordinance or resolution to consolidate its mass-transit planning activities with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning into a single mass-transit planning department within the Regional Transportation Authority. The ordinance or resolution shall not take effect until 90 days after the Board of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning has adopted a similar resolution under Section 52 of the Regional Planning Act.
