SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act

    Creates the Legislative Leader Term Limit Referendum Act. Requires the State Board of Elections to cause a statewide advisory public question to be submitted to the voters at the April 7, 2015 consolidated election asking whether there should be term limits for the offices of Speaker of the House of Representatives, President of the Senate, Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, and Minority Leader of the Senate. Provides that if the provision of the Act conflicts with any other law, the Act controls. Repeals the Act on January 1, 2016. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning elections.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5Legislative Leader Term Limit Referendum Act.
 
6    Section 5. Referendum. The State Board of Elections shall
7cause a statewide advisory public question to be submitted to
8the voters at the consolidated election to be held on April 7,
92015. The question shall appear in the following form:
10    "Should there be term limits for the offices of Speaker of
11    the House of Representatives, President of the Senate,
12    Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, and
13    Minority Leader of the Senate?"
14The votes on the question shall be recorded as "Yes" or "No".
 
15    Section 10. Certification. The State Board of Elections
16shall immediately certify the question to be submitted to the
17voters of the entire State under Section 5 to each election
18authority in Illinois.
 
19    Section 15. Conflicts. If any provision of this Act
20conflicts with any other law, this Act controls.

1    Section 90. Repeal. This Act is repealed on January 1,
22016.
 
3    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
4becoming law.
