| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General | 3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to the truly great individuals | 4 | | who have served our country and, in doing so, have gone above | 5 | | and beyond the call of duty to make the ultimate sacrifice for | 6 | | our nation; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, SPC Trevor Pinnick dedicated his life to defending | 8 | | America's freedom and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to | 9 | | his nation on June 12, 2012, in a medical treatment facility at | 10 | | Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when his | 11 | | unit was attacked by an enemy improvised explosive device; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, SPC Trevor Pinnick was born on January 6, 1992, in | 13 | | Chesapeake, Virginia, graduating from Lawrenceville High | 14 | | School in May of 2010, and joining the Army right out of high | 15 | | school, serving with the 18th Engineer Company, 1st Battalion, | 16 | | 37th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team | 17 | | of the 2nd Infantry Division, out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, | 18 | | Washington; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, SPC Trevor Pinnick received the Army Achievement | 20 | | Medal on September 6, 2011, for his work in August 2011 with | 21 | | the 18th Engineer Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment | 22 | | and was promoted to Specialist in the first week of June 2011, |

| 1 | | and was scheduled to be home on leave a month before giving his | 2 | | life; he was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, SPC Trevor Pinnick leaves behind his wife, Martha | 4 | | Pinnick; his daughter, Melody Renee Pinnick; his mother, Nancy | 5 | | Pinnick; his father, Thomas Pinnick; his older brother, Thomas
| 6 | | Pinnick Jr.; and his twin sisters, Kayla Lynn Pinnick and | 7 | | Bethany Rose Pinnick; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, United States and Illinois flags throughout the | 9 | | State flew at half-staff as a symbol of mourning and to honor | 10 | | the sacrifice of SPC Trevor Pinnick; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, SPC Trevor Pinnick's funeral was held at the | 12 | | Lawrenceville High School Auditorium and he was laid to rest in | 13 | | Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, Indiana, with full | 14 | | military honors; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, This fallen soldier deserves to be remembered by | 16 | | the State of Illinois for his service to this country; | 17 | | therefore, be it | 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 19 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE | 20 | | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the section of U.S. | 21 | | Route 50 Business through Lawrenceville, Illinois, as the |

| 1 | | "Trevor Pinnick Memorial Highway" in honor of the memory and | 2 | | sacrifice of SPC Trevor Pinnick; and be it further
| 3 | | RESOLVED, The Illinois Department of Transportation is | 4 | | requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with State | 5 | | and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs giving | 6 | | notice of the name of the "Trevor Pinnick Memorial Highway"; | 7 | | and be it further
| 8 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 9 | | delivered to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of | 10 | | Transportation, and the family of SPC Trevor Pinnick.
