HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rex
4Vernon English of Christopher, who passed away on April 8,
52014; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rex English was born on April 27, 1927 in Kennett,
7Missouri; his parents were Joe and Azalea (nee Rollins)
8English; he married Betty Lou Adams on May 11, 1947 in Anna;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rex English graduated from Anna-Jonesboro High
11School in 1945; after graduation, he proudly served his country
12as a member of the United States Navy during World War II; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Rex
14English returned to Anna and worked at Jo-Ann Laundry; he then
15started employment with Bunny Bread in Anna and was transferred
16to Christopher in 1958 to work as a terminal supervisor; he
17retired as Northern District Manager in 1985 after 30 years of
18employment; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rex English was a lifetime member of Veterans of
20Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion in
21Christopher; and

1    WHEREAS, Rex English enjoyed fishing at Reelfoot Lake with
2his wife, spending time with his family at their cabin near De
3Soto, playing pinochle with his friends and family, dancing,
4golfing with his brothers, spending time with classmates from
5the class of 1945, and living at Lake of Egypt, where he
6enjoyed fishing, pontoon boat rides, water skiing, and watching
7his grandkids play on the dock; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Rex English was preceded in death by his wife,
9Betty; parents; infant grandson, Clint Anthony Ronchetto; his
10sisters, Dixie English and Ellen Campbell; brothers and
11sisters-in-law, J.T. and Jennie English, C.A. and Bettye
12English, and Harold and Mary English; brother-in-law, Donald
13McCann; and nephews, Larry, Gary, and Terry English and Brian
14Campbell; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Rex English is survived by 5 children and their
16spouses, Sandy and Tom Vaughn, Candy and David Price, Rex and
17Sheila English, Kent (Smitty) and Cathy English, and Carilea
18and Larry Cooper; 11 grandchildren, Ryan Vaughn and wife,
19Jenny, Melissa Gibbs, Chad Price and wife, Kelli, Shauna
20Burckhardt and husband, Brian, Seth English and wife, Mehgan,
21Stella Triplett and husband, Gary, Katie Pettit and husband,
22Andy, Matthew English and wife, Lindsay, Ashley Kuhn and
23husband, Jay, Brandis Wheeler, and Neill Wheeler and wife,

1Niki; great-grandchildren, Zoey Vaughn, Liam Gibbs, Shae,
2Lexi, and Piper Price, Azalee and Brock Burckhardt, Jorja
3English, Abbott Triplett, Spencer and Finnigan Pettit, Eloise
4English, Lemmy Kuhn, and Colton Wheeler; a sister-in-law, Norma
5Fuller; 4 nieces; and 11 nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Rex
9Vernon English; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Rex English as an expression of our
12sympathy.
