HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate John Grussing, Assistant Chief of the Normal Fire Department, on the occasion of his retirement after 26 1/2 years of outstanding service; and

WHEREAS, Chief John Grussing began his career as a Normal Firefighter on October 1, 1987; he was promoted to Lieutenant in 1998, to Captain and Shift Commander in 2007, and to Assistant Chief of Training in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Chief John Grussing has worked to enhance training programs for firefighters in Normal and across the State as an instructor for the Illinois State Fire Institute; he organized and administered the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Division 41 Technical Rescue Team, and he administered the maintenance and replacement program for all fire apparatus and ambulances for Normal; and

WHEREAS, Chief John Grussing has been a dedicated member of the Illinois Fire Chiefs EMS Advisory Committee and the Boys and Girls Club Board and has served as President of the Central Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; and

WHEREAS, Chief John Grussing received his bachelor's degree in Fire Science from Western Illinois University and earned membership into the Golden Key International Honour Society; and

WHEREAS, Chief John Grussing has been an asset to the Normal Fire Department and has dedicated himself to the citizens of his community through his work as a firefighter, a shift commander, and as an assistant chief; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Chief John Grussing on his retirement, recognize his significant professional achievements, and express our sincere gratitude for the invaluable contributions he has made to the citizens of Normal; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief John Grussing as an expression of our esteem and respect.
