HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to honor Sugar Grove Fire Chief Martin
4Kunkel for his many years of dedicated service to both his
5department and community as he prepares for retirement; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Kunkel has served for over 35 years in the
7fire protection service; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Martin Kunkel began his career in the fire
9protective service on April 19, 1976, when he was hired on as a
10firefighter with the Aurora Fire Department; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Martin Kunkel was promoted to the rank of
12Lieutenant of the Aurora Fire Department in 1986; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Martin Kunkel was promoted to the rank of Captain
14in January of 1990; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Martin Kunkel was appointed to the position of
16Fire Marshal for the Aurora Fire Department on March 9, 1996;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Martin Kunkel was appointed to the position of
19Assistant Fire Chief for the Aurora Fire Department on December

14, 1999; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Martin Kunkel retired from the Aurora Fire
3Department on March 7, 2003; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Martin Kunkel was appointed as the first full-time
5Fire Chief of the Sugar Grove Fire Protection District on
6February 21, 2005; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Martin Kunkel retired from Sugar Grove Fire
8Protection on April 30, 2014; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we honor Sugar Grove Fire Chief Martin Kunkel on his service
12and dedication on behalf of the residents of both Aurora and
13Sugar Grove, congratulate him on the occasion of his
14retirement, and wish him many happy years to come; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Martin Kunkel as an expression of our esteem and
18respect.
