HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the staff and administration of the Warren G. Murray Developmental Center on the occasion of the center's 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Murray Center was built in 1964 to meet the needs of children with severe developmental disabilities; the Murray Center is located in Centralia in Marion County; and

WHEREAS, The Murray Center currently is the home to 240 residents, with over half of these residents calling the Murray Center their home for over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Many of the residents have complex needs that are met by the caring Murray staff, with many of the residents having a dual diagnosis of a developmental disability and a mental disability; and

WHEREAS, The Murray Center provides 24-hour care for its residents, which provides the residents with incredible care from the courteous staff at their home; and

WHEREAS, The Murray Parents Association, comprised of families of Murray Center residents, has been very grateful for the care and treatment their loved ones receive from the Murray staff; and

WHEREAS, The Murray Center has been providing this high quality service for 50 years, making it a shining light and model for other developmental facilities to follow in their success; residents and families have been extremely pleased with the service provided by the staff; and

WHEREAS, The Warren G. Murray Developmental Center has provided an invaluable resource for the residents who call the Center their home, helping the Murray Parents Association know that their loved ones are being provided with the best care from a truly remarkable staff that takes great pride in their work caring for the residents; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the staff and administration of the Warren G. Murray Developmental Center on the 50th anniversary of providing a wonderful place for its residents to call home; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we wish the staff and administration of the Murray Center another 50 years of great success in caring for its residents and being a part of the Centralia community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Warren G. Murray Developmental Center, the Murray Parents Association, and Friends of Murray as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
