HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to honor Richard J. Mark for his work in
4his community; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Mark serves as president and CEO of the
6Ameren Illinois Company; and
 
7    WHEREAS, A native of Collinsville, Richard Mark has been
8keenly involved in uplifting the City of East St. Louis; as
9president and chief executive officer of the City of East St.
10Louis' last remaining hospital, St. Mary's Hospital, he oversaw
11the turnaround of the hospital, which was, at one time, a
12premier medical facility south of Springfield; as the fortunes
13of East St. Louis slipped, so did the economic stability of St.
14Mary's; during his tenure, the hospital was turned around to
15fiscal solvency and was featured on one of the national nightly
16news programs for its efforts to sustain economic challenges as
17an inner city hospital; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Richard Mark served as chairman of the East St.
19Louis School District 189 Financial Oversight Panel for 10
20years; when the District proposed to sell the abandoned Parsons
21Field far below its market value, he insisted that the School
22Board revisit the sale, thus ensuring that a $30,000 sale was

1changed to a $300,000 sale; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Richard Mark serves as a model of hard work,
3integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
4Illinois; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate Richard J. Mark for his work in his community
8and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and
9be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Richard Mark as a symbol of our esteem and
12respect.
