HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Fred Hohnke on the occasion of his 25th anniversary with the Woodridge Park District Board of Commissioners; and

WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke has been a member of the Woodridge Park District Board of Commissioners since 1989, serving as President since 1996; in 1997, he also served as the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) Board President, and, from 2000 to 2009, he served on the National Recreation and Parks Association Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, In 1999, Fred Hohnke received the IAPD Commissioner of the Year Award; in 2004, he received the IAPD Mike Cassidy Commissioner Community Service Award, and, in 2011, he was named the IAPD/Illinois Parks & Recreation Association's (IPRA) Distinguished Accreditation Agency Co-Chairperson; and

WHEREAS, During Fred Hohnke's tenure on the Woodridge Park District Board of Commissioners, the district received the IAPD/IPRA's Distinguished Agency Award from 1993 through 2010, the IAPD/IPRA's Distinguished Accredited Agency from 2011 to 2016, the Governor's Finance Officers Association Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from 2010 through 2013, Park District Risk Management Agency Accreditation from 2009 through 2015, the Schools and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education Earth Flag Award in 2010, the IAPD's "Best of the Best" Intergovernmental Cooperation Award in 2008 and 2014, the Midwest Institute of Park Executives' Helping Hands Special Service Award in 2013, and Aquatic Starguard Life Guard Safety Recognitions from 2008 through 2013; and

WHEREAS, During Fred Hohnke's time on the Woodridge Park District Board of Commissioners, individual facilities that received recognition include, Forest Glen Park, the Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park, Echo Point Park, Mending Wall Park, Seven Bridges Park, and the Village Greens Golf Course; and

WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke helped the Woodridge Park District acquire an additional 174.76 acres of land and federal and State grant awards and donations totalling nearly $10,000,000 since 1993; and

WHEREAS, President Hohnke's achievement will be recognized at the Woodridge Park District's annual Volunteer Reception on November 7, 2014; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Fred Hohnke on his 25th anniversary with the Woodridge Park District Board of Commissioners and wish him many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Fred Hohnke as an expression of our esteem and respect.
