HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Howard Johnson of Peoria, who passed away on November 14, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Howard Johnson was born on January 12, 1943 in Peoria; his parents were Roy and Anna Johnson; he married Betty Smith on July 31, 1968 in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Howard Johnson worked for P.J. Hoerr, Inc. for 22 years until his retirement in 1991; he later became the owner and operator of the Jon-Del Construction Company; and

WHEREAS, Howard Johnson was a member of Laborers International Union of North America Local 165, the Atomic Jets, and the Outcast Motorcycle Club; and

WHEREAS, Howard Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; a son, Roy Cockfield; 2 brothers, Thomas and Walter Johnson; and 2 sisters, Dora Brown and Carol White; and

WHEREAS, Howard Johnson is survived by 6 children, Alesia Wilkinson, Donald (Karen) Smith, Bruce Cockfield, Linnie (Patricia) Cockfield, Parrish (Tanya) Johnson, and Howard Johnson, Jr.; 2 brothers, Steven (Monica) Johnson and William Johnson; 6 sisters, Frances Johnson, Roberta (Sylvester) Gordon, Linda Johnson, Leslie Winters, Sandra Johnson, and Linda Stenson; 2 nieces, Denise Sain and Diane Knox; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Howard Johnson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Howard Johnson as an expression of our sympathy.
