HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Robert L. Whisler has served as a Commissioner of the Arlington Heights Park District for 13 years, including three terms as President; and

WHEREAS, During Robert Whisler's tenure, the District was recognized as an Illinois Association of Park Districts/Illinois Park and Recreation Association "Distinguished Park and Recreation Agency"; the District also received the National Gold Medal for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management; and

WHEREAS, Robert Whisler was influential in the promotion and development of numerous intergovernmental agreements with local school districts, park districts, villages, businesses, and the Village of Arlington Heights; and

WHEREAS, Robert Whisler was instrumental in acquiring 7 acres of land, valued at $6,394,000, and in securing over $4,647,000 in local, State, and federal grant money for the Arlington Heights Park District; and

WHEREAS, Robert Whisler has assisted in the acquisition, development, and renovation of premier Arlington Heights Park District recreation areas and facilities, such as the Camelot, Frontier, Heritage, and Olympic swimming pools, the Davis Street Service Center, the Forest View Racquet and Fitness Club, Frontier Park, the Heritage Tennis Club, Melas and Memorial Parks, the Olympic Indoor Swim Center, the Pioneer Park Pool and Community Center, and Sunset Meadows Park; and

WHEREAS, Robert Whisler has played an active role in the Arlington Heights community as a member of the Arlington Heights Rotary Club, president of the Arlington Baseball Boosters, and as a coach for over 20 years of the Arlington Heights American Legion Baseball Team; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Robert L. Whisler on the occasion of his retirement after 13 years of service to Arlington Heights, recognize his many accomplishments during those years, and wish him well in all of his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Robert Whisler as an expression of our esteem and respect.
