HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the coaches and members of
4the Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts student team for their
5victories at the American Culinary Federation's Central US
6Student Culinary Team Championship; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts
8Department competed in April of 2013 in Little Rock, Arkansas
9for the American Culinary Federation's Central US Student
10Culinary Team Championship and the central U.S. individual
11Student Chef of the Year competition; the program competed
12against the best teams and individual culinary students from
13the 15 states in the central region of the United States; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Department Chair Chef
15Michael McGreal and coaches Chef Tim Bucci, Chef Kyle
16Richardson, and Chef Suzette Simpson, the Joliet Junior College
17Culinary Arts student team won the 1st place gold and the title
18of 2013 central US champions; the team will compete in the
19"final four" in Las Vegas in July of 2013 for the national
20title against the other 3 top U.S. regional teams; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts student
22Jackie Adamonis competed in the Central U.S. Student Chef of

1the Year competition and won the 1st place gold and the title
2of Top Student Chef of the Year for the Central U.S.; she will
3also compete in the "final four" in July of 2013 against the
4other 3 top U.S. regional students for the title of top student
5chef in America; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts has its
7own local chapter with the American Culinary Federation and
8competed in a volunteerism competition for the central U.S.
9region; the goal was to volunteer time and efforts towards
10fighting both hunger and childhood obesity in America; the ACF
11Louis Joliet Chapter/Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts team
12won this competition and was awarded a $10,000 prize from
13Hidden Valley Original Ranch dressings and dips for its student
14centered chapter, whose members are committed to giving back to
15their communities; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The members of the Joliet Junior College Culinary
17Arts student team are Jacob Bernard, Joe Biskie, Amy Gutierrez,
18Timothy Baran, and Vince Cassidy; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The members of the Joliet Junior College Culinary
20Arts student team serve as models of hard work, integrity, and
21dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore,
22be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we congratulate the coaches and members of the Joliet Junior
4College Culinary Arts student team for their victories at the
5American Culinary Federation's Central US Student Culinary
6Team Championship and wish them continued success and happiness
7in the future; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts student
10team as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
