HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the coaches and members of the Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts student team for their victories at the American Culinary Federation's Central US Student Culinary Team Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts Department competed in April of 2013 in Little Rock, Arkansas for the American Culinary Federation's Central US Student Culinary Team Championship and the central U.S. individual Student Chef of the Year competition; the program competed against the best teams and individual culinary students from the 15 states in the central region of the United States; and

WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Department Chair Chef Michael McGreal and coaches Chef Tim Bucci, Chef Kyle Richardson, and Chef Suzette Simpson, the Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts student team won the 1st place gold and the title of 2013 central US champions; the team will compete in the "final four" in Las Vegas in July of 2013 for the national title against the other 3 top U.S. regional teams; and

WHEREAS, Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts student Jackie Adamonis competed in the Central U.S. Student Chef of the Year competition and won the 1st place gold and the title of Top Student Chef of the Year for the Central U.S.; she will also compete in the "final four" in July of 2013 against the other 3 top U.S. regional students for the title of top student chef in America; and

WHEREAS, The Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts has its own local chapter with the American Culinary Federation and competed in a volunteerism competition for the central U.S. region; the goal was to volunteer time and efforts towards fighting both hunger and childhood obesity in America; the ACF Louis Joliet Chapter/Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts team won this competition and was awarded a $10,000 prize from Hidden Valley Original Ranch dressings and dips for its student centered chapter, whose members are committed to giving back to their communities; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts student team are Jacob Bernard, Joe Biskie, Amy Gutierrez, Timothy Baran, and Vince Cassidy; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts student team serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the coaches and members of the Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts student team for their victories at the American Culinary Federation's Central US Student Culinary Team Championship and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts student team as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
