HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize the installation of Michelle M. Kohut as the president of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI); and

WHEREAS, Michelle Kohut joined the law firm, Corboy & Demetrio, in 2004 and practices in all areas of personal injury law, including cases arising from automobile collisions, medical malpractice, construction negligence, premises liability, product liability, and railroad negligence; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Kohut is very active in local and national bar associations, including the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and the Women's Bar Association of Illinois, where she has been serving as First Vice-President; she has served as president of Women Everywhere-Partners in Service Project, Inc., a community service project which seeks to open doors to women and children in need and to expose high school girls to the challenging careers in the legal profession; she has served on the board of directors of Heartland International Health Center, which is dedicated to improving the health of persons living in several Chicago communities; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Kohut was recognized in 2007 as one of the "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch" by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company and has been honored with the designation of Illinois Super Lawyer, Rising Star each year since 2008; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Kohut received her law degree in 2002 from Loyola University of Chicago Law School; prior to joining Corboy & Demetrio, she was a judicial law clerk to William D. Maddux, presiding judge of the Law Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Kohut will be sworn in as the WBAI president at the 99th Annual Installation Dinner, which will take place on June 13, 2013, at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago; this year's theme is "Empowerment Through Networking"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize and congratulate Michelle Kohut on becoming the Women's Bar Association of Illinois' president and wish her all the best as she assumes the position; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Michelle Kohut as an expression of our esteem and respect.
