HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Ann "Bunny" Thelen of Spring Grove, who passed away on January 27, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen was born on Easter Sunday to Jake and Tillie Stoffel; she was married to the late Vern Thelen for nearly 55 years; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen graduated from McHenry High School in 1948; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen was the founder of the Vern and Bunny Thelen Family Foundation; her love of children and her community inspired her to create the Thelen Family Park in Spring Grove; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen was a member of the McHenry Country Club, the Spring Valley Country Club, the Country Creek Country Club, the Antioch Ladies Club, the Red Hat Society of Estero, Florida, and the Women's Club of St Peter's in Spring Grove; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and was involved in the Rotary Anns; she was a co-founder of Lake County's Chain O' Lakes 4-H club; she operated the Share-the-Fun Program for the 4-H Club for many years and was able to bring the program to the Illinois State Fair; she also helped organize the Lake County Fair Horse Show for many years and was the operator of the Little Orchard Farm's Horse Show in Antioch; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann Thelen was an avid traveler and served as activity director of the ForeTravel club; she visited all 50 states and more than 50 countries; she also wintered in Estero, Florida for over 20 years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mary Ann "Bunny" Thelen; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Ann Thelen as an expression of our sympathy.
