HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ruth (nee Solomon) Schwartz of Chicago on the occasion of her 100th birthday celebration; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Schwartz was born on July 21, 1913, in Chicago to Rebecca and Philip Solomon; she grew up on the west side and went to Sumner Grammar School and Marshal High School; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Schwartz married Ben Schwartz on October 20, 1935, and they had one child, Ina Kantor; she has 2 grandchildren, Philip Kantor and Abby Agnew and 5 great-grandchildren, Ben, Jeremy, and Cameron Kantor and Noah and Rebekah Agnew; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Schwartz is a longtime resident of the Lakeview neighborhood and enjoys mah jong, kaluki, piano, needlepoint, classical music, and crossword puzzles; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Schwartz has spent her life making a warm and loving home and is known for her great meatballs and for being a wonderful cook; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Schwartz has spent 25 years volunteering at Weiss Hospital; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ruth Schwartz on the occasion of her 100th birthday celebration; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ruth Schwartz as an expression of our esteem and respect.
