HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the McHenry County Historical Society and Museum on the 50th anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS, The McHenry County Historical Society and Museum provides county residents with invaluable information about family history, business history, and property, building, and site preservation; and

WHEREAS, The McHenry County Historical Society and Museum was the leading force behind the passage of McHenry County's historic preservation ordinance and has restored several historic buildings in McHenry County, including the Gannon Log Cabin, built in 1843, and the Pringle School, built in 1867; and

WHEREAS, The McHenry County Historical Society and Museum has co-published 2 local histories, "McHenry County in the Twentieth Century" (1994) and "Historic County Schools of McHenry County" (2008), and maintains a research library open for public use; and

WHEREAS, The McHenry County Historical Society and Museum is housed in the former Union School, built in 1870, and hosts more than 3,000 local students annually for historical education programs; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the McHenry County Historical Society and Museum on its 50th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the officers of the McHenry County Historical Society and Museum as an expression of our esteem and respect.
