HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dwayne Esper on winning a Silver Medal in the 100-meter dash at the International Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Esper was also selected by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association to compete in the 200-meter dash and the 4x100-meter competition at the Deaflympics; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Esper is a 2013 graduate of the Illinois School for the Deaf and the first athlete from the Illinois School for the Deaf to compete in the Deaflympics since 2002; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Esper competed in track and field for 4 years and was selected as the 2013 Illinois School for the Deaf Athlete of the Year and Track and Field Most Valuable Player and earned All-Conference in the 200-meter dash, the 100-meter dash, and sprint relays; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Esper was a 3-time Illinois High School Association State qualifier and took 2nd-place honors in the 200-meter dash in Class 1A this year; and

WHEREAS, Dwayne Esper was selected as the Deaf Prep All-American in the 200-meter dash, sprint relays, and the high jump; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dwayne Esper on his accomplishments and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dwayne Esper as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
