HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Approximately 750,000 veterans reside in the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The citizens of the State of Illinois should appreciate and honor our veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve for the common good; and

WHEREAS, Veterans Day is celebrated each year in the United States on November 11th; and

WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has not allocated an entire month of recognition for veteran members of our Armed Forces; and

WHEREAS, Illinois veterans have honorably served our nation and deserve an entire month to honor, remember, and appreciate them; and

WHEREAS, Veterans Appreciation Month will promote awareness and education about the important role the United States Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our country; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate the months of November 2013 and November 2014 as Veterans Appreciation Month in the State of Illinois in honor of our nation's veterans.
