HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate St. Paul United Church of Christ in Barrington on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS, St. Paul United Church of Christ was founded in 1863; it was originally known as the United St. Paul's Church at Barrington and, reflecting the roots of the German immigrants settled in the area, 3 services a month were held in German and one in English; it was once part of the German Evangelical Reformed Church; and

WHEREAS, In 1960, it joined the United Church of Christ; and

WHEREAS, A cemetery walk at St. Paul Cemetery will take place on October 13, 2013 to celebrate the 150th anniversary, which will include stories of the cemetery's first burial, in-costume actors telling tales of the Civil War veterans laid to rest there, and the historic burial of a time capsule highlighting the sesquicentennial of the church; and

WHEREAS, The 150th anniversary celebration luncheon will take place on November 3, 2013 at the Biltmore Country Club in Barrington; it will include special guests, historical pictorials, and live music; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate St. Paul United Church of Christ on its 150th anniversary and wish the congregation many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to St. Paul United Church of Christ as an expression of our esteem and respect.
