HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jim Allsopp on the occasion of his retirement after 35 years with the Federal Government, 34 with the National Weather Service; and

WHEREAS, Jim Allsopp has been with the National Weather Service Chicago Forecast Office located in Romeoville at Lewis Airport since 1991; he has been serving as the Warning Coordination Meteorologist, the only person to hold that position at the Chicago office since it was created, partly in response to the 1990 Plainfield tornado; and

WHEREAS, Jim Allsopp has been involved in a wide range of activities related to severe weather warning, public education, and many other areas; and

WHEREAS, Jim Allsopp was born in Hinsdale and currently resides in Channahon; and

WHEREAS, An open house will be held to honor Jim Allsopp at the National Weather Service Office on November 22, 2013 and a party will be held on December 7, 2013 at Al's Steakhouse to celebrate his retirement; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jim Allsopp on his retirement from the National Weather Service and the Federal Government and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jim Allsopp as an expression of our esteem and respect.
