HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John H. Gardner, Sr. of West Frankfort, who passed away on December 31, 2013; and

WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was born on October 3, 1943 in Island, Kentucky to Renious and Katie (nee Harrington) Gardner; he married Jeri Lingle on May 13, 1961; and

WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. owned and operated General Waterproofing and Construction in West Frankfort for 42 years; and

WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. enjoyed bowling, reading, hunting, and fishing; he was on the West Frankfort Park Board for over 26 years and started the Junior Wrestling Club program in West Frankfort in 1982; and

WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Roy, Ben, and Junior Gardner; his nephew, Ronnie Gardner; his nieces, Loetta Volanski and Joni Zigler; his great-nephew, Renious Gardner; and his father-in-law, Charles "Red" Lingle, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeri; his children, John, Jr. (Nancy), Chuck (Robin), Robert Gardner, and Susie (Deb) Gardner; his grandchildren, Sara (Danny) Tango, Gabe (Ashley) McCord, Casey (Steve) Slimak, and Kaleb, Katie, Keegan, Hannah, and Kassi Gardner; his great-grandchildren, Dominic McCord, Braxton Gardner, Bella and Brystol Tango, and Henry and Anna Slimak; his sister, Jenny (James) Darnell; his sister-in-law, Loretta Gardner; his mother-in-law, Irene Lingle; his brothers-in-law, Gary (Cindy) Lingle, Larry (Beth) Lingle, and Terry Lingle; and his special cousin, Joe (Helen) Harrington; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John H. Gardner, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Gardner, Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
