HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Alfred Anderson on the occasion of his retirement as Executive Director of the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission Workforce Development Services; and

WHEREAS, Alfred Anderson has served as Executive Director for 35 years, since back when the program was known as the Champaign Consortium; and

WHEREAS, Alfred Anderson served on the Champaign City Council for 2 years, the Champaign County Housing Authority for 10 years, the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit Board for 10 years, the Urban League of Champaign County for 2 years, the Head Start Advisory Board of Commissioners for 2 years, the Community Collaboration for Economic Development for 8 years, the Illinois Workforce Partnership for 25 years, the Champaign Community and Police Partnership for 6 years, and the Greater Champaign County Economic Development Corporation Board for 2 years; and

WHEREAS, Alfred Anderson has worked tirelessly to ensure disadvantaged youths have easy access to programs such as Education to Work, Upward Bound, and Cunningham Children's Vocational Programs; due to his diligence, many Champaign County youths are attending Colleges and Universities throughout the country; and

WHEREAS, Alfred Anderson is a faithful and dedicated member and volunteer of The Church of the Living God in Champaign, where he serves as a Deacon, culinary committee member, van driver, and delivers food to needy families each and every month; and

WHEREAS, Alfred Anderson has selflessly shared his wisdom, talents, knowledge, and understanding to enrich the lives of everyone who has been blessed to cross in his path; he is a true humanitarian, with a "never give up" determination and drive encouraging all who work for and around him to do their absolute best; his goal in life is to impact the lives of others with programs similar to those that impacted his own life at an early age; and

WHEREAS, Alfred Anderson is an avid sports fan and enjoys following the Illini, the Chicago Bulls, Bears, and Cubs; he loves to cook and share his famous BBQ sauce with those fortunate enough to get a taste, and has never let a pot of coffee go unmade...or unemptied; and

WHEREAS, Alfred Anderson will be sorely missed by all who have had the pleasure of working with him over the years, and especially by his staff and friends, who honor, respect, and love him very much; and

WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of Alfred Anderson's retirement will be held on January 24, 2014; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Alfred Anderson on his retirement as Executive Director of the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission Workforce Development Services, and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Alfred Anderson as an example of our esteem and respect.
