HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jack D. West, who passed away on December 18, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Jack West was born on October 23, 1946 in Herrin; his parents were Dean and Vada (nee Newton) West; and

WHEREAS, Jack West served his country as a member of the United States Navy and served 2 tours in Vietnam; he was also a lifetime member of the Marion Veterans of Foreign Wars; and

WHEREAS, Jack West worked for the Marion Police Department for 29 years, retiring at the rank of sergeant; in 2007, he began working as a courtroom security guard for the Williamson County Sheriff's Office; and

WHEREAS, Jack West was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brian West; and his sister, Judy Gordon; and

WHEREAS, Jack West is survived by his wife, Debbie West; his son, Jerry (Melissa) West; his grandchildren, Rebecca West, Katelyn West, Shelby Crites, Steven D. West, and Stephanie West; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Barbara Travelstead; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Joy Travelstead; and his 3 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Jack D. West; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack West as an expression of our sympathy.
