HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate East Peoria
4Community High School senior Lucas Joseph on the occasion of
5winning the Class 2A 220-pound Wrestling Championship at the
6individual State of Illinois tournament; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Lucas Joseph is the youngest son of Rick and
8Leanne Joseph of East Peoria; and
 
9    WHEREAS, One year ago, Lucas Joseph fell one point short of
10a win in the finals, making this year's victory as a senior all
11the more rewarding; it also allows him to have a 2-year record
12of 85-1 and a one-year record of 41-0; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After a scoreless first period, Lucas Joseph gave
14up an escape, only to follow with a takedown 10 seconds later
15to pull ahead 2-1; the East Peoria senior then turned back
16several single-leg takedown attempts by his opponent, allowing
17only an escape for a 2-2 tie to start the 3rd period; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lucas Joseph kept his opponent scoreless in the
19third period, exhibiting great persistence and determination;
20and

1    WHEREAS, The whole East Peoria community is proud of Lucas
2Joseph's State win and celebrated with him on February 17, 2013
3with a community celebration at East Peoria High School;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate Lucas Joseph of his State tournament win,
8bringing victorious recognition to the success of East Peoria
9Community High School's wrestling team and their coach, Phil
10Johns; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Lucas Joseph and East Peoria Community High School
13as an expression of our esteem and respect.
