HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are pleased to recognize and honor the HNTB Corporation on the occasion of its 100th anniversary in business as a professional engineering and infrastructure solutions consultant; and

WHEREAS, HNTB Corporation is an employee-owned infrastructure firm serving public and private owners and contractors; celebrating a century of service, HNTB's contributions can be seen among the largest, most complex bridges, highways, airports, public buildings, and public works projects across the country, including the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1914 as a small bridge design partnership in Kansas City, Missouri, HNTB's core work has evolved from meeting clients' needs with mechanically innovative structural designs to solving larger technical and institutional challenges; and

WHEREAS, The firm originally made its name in moveable-bridge designs for railroads and toll roadway bridges and toll highways before moving into the United States interstate highway system, aviation, water services, architecture, rail and public transit, program management, and integrated delivery, including design-build and public-private partnerships; and

WHEREAS, The firm's Chicago office has played a significant role in a large share of the Chicago metropolitan area's infrastructure and transportation, including such landmark projects as the Reconstruction on the Dan Ryan Expressway, the Chicago Transit Authority's Wilson Station, the North Avenue Bridge, program management initiatives for PACE and its bus rapid transit program, capital improvement programs at O'Hare and Midway International Airports, and managing the Illinois Tollway's Congestion-Relief Program; and

WHEREAS, HNTB has been consistently named among the industry's top firms in bridges, highways, airports, transportation, mass transit and rail, design firms, and green design firms; and

WHEREAS, HNTB is commemorating its 100th anniversary by having its Chicago office's 170 employees unite to contribute 100 hours of community service through partnerships with organizations such as the Future City Competition, the ACE Mentoring Program, and Special Olympics Illinois; and

WHEREAS, There are very few Illinois businesses that have reached 100 years of operation and service; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate and commend HNTB Corporation on the occasion of its 100th anniversary and wish its owners and employees continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to HNTB Vice President and Chicago Office Leader David P. Crosson, PE, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
