HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of
3Representatives pay honor and respect to the truly great
4individuals who have served our country and have dedicated
5their lives to defending our nation's freedom; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
7Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lance
8Corporal Luther Baud, who passed away honorably on Memorial
9Day, May 27, 2013 in Sacramento, California; his body was
10escorted home by his fellow marines on June 8, 2013 where he
11was greeted by his hometown friends and family; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Luther Baud was born on
13February 28, 1992 in Robinson; he graduated from Oblong High
14School in May of 2010 and joined the Marine Corps delayed entry
15program on March 2, 2010; on March 11, 2011 he graduated from
16Basic Training in San Diego, California; and
 
17    WHEREAS, In March 2011, Private First Class James Luther
18Baud reported to the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton in
19California where he trained as a Basic Infantry Rifleman;
20following the School of Infantry, Private First Class Baud
21reported to the Light Armored Vehicle Crewmen course at Camp
22Pendleton and received a Military Occupational Specialty of

10313 Light Armored Vehicle Crewman; in July of 2011, Private
2First Class Baud reported to the 1st Light Armored
3Reconnaissance Battalion to participate in pre-deployment
4training; he was promoted to Lance Corporal on September 1,
52011; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Baud deployed with the 1st Light
7Armored Vehicle Reconnaissance Charlie Company Weapons Platoon
8to Afghanistan as an Infantry Rifleman from October 2011 to May
92012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Baud will be forever remembered for
11his kind, compassionate heart, his love for God, family, and
12friends, and his patriotism and bravery; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Baud will be dearly missed by his
14mother, Thelma Wall; his stepfather, Monty Wall; his brothers,
15Scott, Jr., Aaron, and Cameron Baud; his father, Scott Baud,
16Sr.; his 2 closest friends, Jesse and Christian Mier; his
17fellow soldiers; and the citizens of a grateful nation;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21we mourn, along with his family, friends, and the members of a
22grateful nation, the passing of United States Marine Corps

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Lance Corporal James Luther Baud as
4a symbol of our deepest sympathy.
