HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Gollie Mae Rodgers of Chicago, who passed away on March 15, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers was born on August 26, 1946 in Council, Arkansas; her parents were Clinton, Sr. and Beatrice (nee Floyd) Mobley; she married Claymon Rodgers on September 26, 1966 in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers graduated from Anna Strong High School in Marianna, Arkansas in 1966 and attended Prairie State College in Chicago Heights; and

WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers was employed with Trine Stone Cleaners in Chicago Heights, Four Seasons Nursing Home in Hazel Crest, and ITW Impro in Monkena, where she retired after over 33 years of service; she also worked for the Chicago Heights Park District and worked for many years as secretary of the Mobley Family Reunion; and

WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Chicago Heights from 1973 to 2000, where she served as Sunday school teacher, choir member, and member of the women's missionary department; she was also a member of the First Union Missionary Baptist Church in Ford Heights from 2000 to 2014, where she served as a member of the treasury board, choir member, member of the pastoral care committee, and member of the feeding ministry; and

WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad and spending time with her family; and

WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers was preceded in death by her husband, Claymon; her daughter, Wanna Joyce; and her parents; and

WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers is survived by her daughters, Wanda and Donna; her grandson, Michael E. Hunter; her granddaughters, Destiny J. and Ericka C. Hunter; her sister, Mary H. (Henry Jr.) Mobley Thompson; her brother, Clinton Mobley, Jr.; her in-laws, Bobby Rodgers and Katherine Edmond; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; her First Union Baptist Church family; and her "son", Pastor Dr. Robert M. Foster; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Gollie Mae Rodgers; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gollie Rodgers as an expression of our sympathy.
