SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patricia Ann Taylor, who passed away on
4December 2, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor was born on February 17, 1959 in
6Clinton, Mississippi; her parents were Timothy C. Patton and
7R.V. Barber; she married Gerard Lamont Taylor in 1982; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor accepted Christ at an early age
9and joined Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago; she
10later became a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church in
11Bellwood; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor attended Oliver Wendell Holmes
13Elementary School and Visitation High School in Chicago; after
14high school, she attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa,
15where she was elected president of the Black Student Union and
16graduated with honors with a triple major in English, black
17studies, and history; after college, she attended the Ohio
18State University Moritz College of Law; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor was employed as an executive
20assistant to the CEO of Morton Salt, Inc. for many years; and

1    WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor enjoyed reading, crocheting,
2shopping, and spending time with her family; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor is preceded in death by her
4parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor is survived by her daughter,
6Jennifer C. Taylor; her son, Gerard L. Taylor, II; her
7granddaughter, Malia Mae Taylor; her brothers, Henry L. Patton,
8Arthur J. Curry, Thomas (Frances) Barber, Timothy (Katherine)
9Barber, Jimmie L. Barber, Leon (Diane) Carr, Charles (Gail)
10Carr, and Richard Larry; her sisters, Ollie (Eddie) Adkins,
11Sarah F. Barber, and Carolyn (Kenneth) Johnson; her uncle,
12Peter (Emma) Martin; her aunts, Rebecca (John Curtis) Robinson
13and Bettye (Charles) Speed; and her many nephews, nieces,
14cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
17family and friends, mourn the passing of Patricia Ann Taylor;
18and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Patricia Taylor as an expression of
21our sympathy.
