SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Louis R. Peyla, who passed away on March
428, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Louis Peyla was born on May 4, 1930; his parents
6were Louis and Caryl (nee Buck) Peyla; he was a long-time
7resident of Joliet; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Louis Peyla graduated from the Cathedral of St.
9Raymond Grade School, St. John's Northwestern Military
10Academy, and Illinois Wesleyan University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Louis Peyla proudly served his country as a member
12of the United States Marine Corps, having attained the rank of
13captain; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Louis Peyla and his brother were the owners and
15chief executive officers of the Illinois Securities Company for
16over 40 years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Louis Peyla was a dedicated board member of the
18Will County Center for Economic Development, the George Werden
19Buck Boys & Girls Club, the Joliet Regional Chamber of
20Commerce, the Joliet Junior College Foundation, and the First

1National Bank of Joliet; he served as a City of Joliet
2Councilman from 1972 to 1976; he was also a member of the
3Joliet Rotary Club, the Joliet Country Club, the Downtown
4Development Council, and the Joliet YMCA; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Louis Peyla was recognized as Joliet's
6Outstanding Young Man of the Year in 1961; he was also the
7recipient of several civic and community awards; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Louis Peyla was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan; he
9also had a life-long love of the Wisconsin Northwoods and the
10game of golf; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Louis Peyla was preceded in death by his parents;
12his daughter, Julie Peyla Holladay; his brothers-in-law,
13George M. O'Brien and William Jackson; his sister-in-law,
14Jacqueline Peyla; and his niece, Leah Peyla; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Louis Peyla is survived by his beloved wife of 38
16years, Edna (nee Messer) Peyla; his 4 children, Gregory (Susan)
17Peyla, Kimberly (David Thornton) Edmiston, Jeffrey (Viola
18Vega) Peyla, and Laurie Rambo; his grandchildren, Nicole
19Edmiston, Seth Peyla, and Emma and Ian Rambo; his sister, Mary
20Lou O'Brien Jackson; his brother, Charles R. (Patricia) Peyla;
21numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends; his first
22wife, Patrica (nee Bottino) Peyla; and his step-daughters,

1Debra Cain and Donna Bradley; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
4family and friends, mourn the passing of Louis R. Peyla; and be
5it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Louis Peyla as an expression of our
8sympathy.
