SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jean Marie Styx, who passed away on April 2, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Jean Styx was born in Chicago on December 5, 1926; she graduated from Sargent College in Boston, Massachusetts and earned her master's degree from Northeastern Illinois University; she married Joseph D. Styx on September 10, 1949; and

WHEREAS, Jean Styx taught for many years in the Waukegan School District; and

WHEREAS, Jean Styx was a member of St. Joseph's Church and later St. Patrick's Church; she enjoyed the Bowman's Club, the Rock and Gem Club, and participating in staining glass, jewelry making, quilting, and sewing; she also enjoyed preparing big meals for her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Jean Styx was preceded in death by her husband; son, Matthew Styx; and grandson, Jordan Styx; and

WHEREAS, Jean Styx was the mother of Donald (Pat) Styx, Peter (Ann) Styx, Susan (Don Wilson) Styx, Judith (Bob) Johnson, John (Therese) Styx, Mary (Pat) Greene, Edward (Peggy) Styx, and David (Denise) Styx; grandmother of 25; and great-grandmother of 18; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jean Marie Styx, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew an loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jean Styx as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
