SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Bill" H. Allen, who passed away on April 22, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Bill Allen was born in 1942 at the Great Lakes Naval Base to Harry and Alice (nee Spellman) Allen; he graduated from Waukegan High School in 1960; he married Judi Lampinen (nee Postich); and

WHEREAS, Bill Allen worked as a printer for Abbott Labs for nearly 4 decades, retiring in 2000 after 36 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Bill Allen belonged to the Pushbutton's Social Club, worked part-time, and hung-out at Ray Riedel's tavern, and later the Bears' Den; he enjoyed golf, pool, poker, and gambling; and

WHEREAS, Bill Allen and his wife loved taking mini-trips "up north", casinos, Door County, dinner out, and dancing; they settled in a retirement community in Delavan, Wisconsin in 2002; and

WHEREAS, Bill Allen is survived by his wife, Judi; his 4 children, Dawn (Mike) McGuire, Kelly Thompson, Billy (Erin) Allen, and Lisa Allen; 2 step-daughters, Melissa (Laurent) Yen and Robyn Sims; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue (Lee) Sykes and LoAl (Don) Cielinski; brother, Ron; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William "Bill" H. Allen, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Allen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
